10kVA UPS and above

Every 6 or 12 months:

  • Visual Checks – Confirm the cleanliness of all fan grills and air inlets/outlets, and perform cleaning if needed. We ensure that all fans are in proper working condition. If feasible, visually examine all batteries and terminals for any signs of corrosion or swelling. Also, confirm that the environment surrounding the UPS meets the necessary criteria, including ambient temperature and the absence of corrosive or damp atmospheres.
  • Performance Checks – Carry out a mains failure test to verify correct battery operation. This test can also be used to prove the UPS still meets the required autonomy. (Note: If the UPS still provides power to the critical load. This will be at risk during this test) Perform a transfer to and from Static bypass test to prove the correct bypass operation.

Every 3 to 4 years:

  • Battery Change – for all units that are supplied with 5-year design life batteries as standard, to ensure maximum performance it is recommended to replace the batteries every 3 or 4 years.

Between 5 to 7 years:

  • UPS Overhauls – Capacitors and fans are to be replaced. The model of UPS determines exactly when in the lifespan of the UPS these fans and capacitors are replaced however its typically between years 5 to 7. We recommend only carrying out 2 overhauls on a UPS before completely replacing it. (For our Modular UPS Multipower, replacement would on require a replacement Power Module)

Every 7 to 8 years:

  • Battery Replacement – for all units that are supplied with 10-year design life batteries as standard, to ensure maximum performance it is recommended to replace the batteries every 7 to 8 years.
